Just to let you know that there is information / learning tasks for S2, S3, National 5 and Higher on individual Microsoft History Teams.
History qualifications provide a broad range of flexible learning contexts covering Scottish, British and European and world history in medieval, early modern and modern time frames. The Courses develop a breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding of the past, and provide opportunities to consider how political, social, economic and cultural history relate to the world of today.
By studying History you will develop an understanding of how people and events in the past have shaped our present world. Issues of identity, culture and authority are some of the aspects of life we will consider.
By studying historical sources (newspapers, cartoons, films, photographs, diaries, political pamphlets, posters, statistics, maps and songs) you will learn the skill of how to interpret evidence and reconstruct a picture of the past. This is a useful skill and should help improve critical thinking and detecting bias.
By studying History you will be encouraged to: (1) debate issues and back up your opinions with evidence, (2) imagine the experience of different people at different times, (3) research different historical topics and different eras and (4) write in a logical and well structured way.
The Broad General Education in History is designed to provide a foundation for further study higher up the school, but also to provide an interesting and varied approach that will improve pupils’ literacy, numeracy and understanding of their world.
